The AfS Soffit Box - Inside Horizontal Soffits

One of the commonest places for Swifts to breed is under open eaves with the nest on top of the wall plate. As most eaves are now closed, this denies Swifts the opportunities they once had.

The nest box provides a lightweight, enclosed nest chamber resting inside the soffit. No wildlife can get beyond the enclosure. Swifts enter via a small hole on the downward facing soffit, providing them with protection from predators. It is a simple and effective solution.

Inside Horizontal Soffits

This nesting chamber requires a hole to be cut in the soffit 66mm x 30mm (template supplied). The nest chamber has an open bottom and is secured to the soffit with a bead of glue around the flanged edge. The nest chamber is a sealed enclosure, so no wildlife can get into the eaves.

The AfS Model 31 -Under Horizontal Soffits

Swifts love nesting high up under eaves. Wide flat soffits provide the roof for this simple but effective nest box.

The sloping front gives an easy entrance for the swifts and provides defence against the elements. This nesting box is the same design as a Model 30, simply utilising the soffit as a roof and available as a single or a double version.

    Dimensions: 32cms wide, 19cms high at the back and 13cms deep at the base.

  • For installation, remove the front and screw to the wall through the back. Then replace the front.

  • Ensure your soffits are wide enough to fit the box underneath (21cms wide).
