Swift solutions for EWI
External Wall Insulation (EWI) is the application of an insulation layer to the outside wall of a building in order to improve the building’s energy efficiency.
By minimising heat loss in cold weather and heat gain in warm weather, EWI creates a more comfortable living environment and reduces heating costs. The insulant is typically expanded polystyrene or mineral fibre of varying thickness, typically finished with a render, brick / stone effect finish or a cladding.
AfS have two products designed to sit within EWI and provide comfortable nesting spaces for swifts and other small birds.
The AfS Galvanised Steel EWI S Brick
● Made of galvanised steel with a sandstone front

The EWI S Brick is made of fireproof Galvanised Steel and weighs 1.7kg.
L: 347mm H: 140mm D: 120mm (100mm is available on special order with a longer lead time.
There is a concrete entrance pice on the front, wire mesh for render to adhere to and it contains a built in nest-form.

The EWI S Brick has lugs on each side with which to attach it to the underlying masonry. EWI is then fitted around it and the final facing render applied over the top, leaving the concrete entrance piece flush with the external surface.

AfS uPVC EWI box
This is a fully uPVC nest box, which can be fitted either snugly up under eaves or soffits, or embedded within external wall insulation (EWI).
● Made of 100% uPVC for thermal stability and durability
● Can be painted to match external walls

Entrances are standard 28mm with 32mm available on request.
